FREE SUPPORT & SERVICES FOR CARERS
Carers are family, friends or neighbours who help someone with some aspect of daily living because they are ill, frail, have mental health problems, drug or alcohol addiction problems, physcial or learning disabilities or sensory impairment. This can be personal care, practical help like shopping and household tasks or just emotional support.
Carers Assessments - for carers to discuss their caring role and decide on any support or services they amy need.
Carers Emergency Contingency Plan & Card Scheme - to ensure replacement care or family/friends are contacted if a Carer has an emergency.
Volunteer sitting service - Volunteers sit with the cared-for so Carers can have a break eg. go shopping, go to an appointment or use Carers services (no personal care provided).
Support Groups - for Carers meet regularly in Barrow.
Contact - with others in a similar caring role.
Referrals - to other agencies that may be able to offer support.
Help to access short breaks
Counselling - to help with issues relted to the caring role.
Aromatherapy - for relaxation and to help cope with stress.
Carers Groups/Drop in sessions for Carers - to call in for information or just a coffee and a chat. Tuesday 1.30-3pm and Friday 9.30am - 11.30am at Furness Carers Meeting Room, Hindpool Community Centre, Nelson Street, Barrow.
Other Services - as required by Carers individual needs.
